Монгол Улсад 15485 ширхэг төрөл бүрийн өргөх байгууламж ашиглагдаж, тусгай зөвшөөрөлтэй 200 гаруй байгууллага тэдгээрийн засвар үйлчилгээ, угсралтын ажлыг хариуцан ажиллаж байна. Ашиглалтын шаардлага хангахгүй, эдэлгээний хугацаа нь дууссан 782 лифтний судалгааг гаргаснаар улсын төсвийн хөрөнгөөр лифт шинэчлэх Засгийн газрын тогтоолыг гаргуулсан. Ингэснээр 2012-2020 онд 564 лифтийг улсын төсвийн хөрөнгөөр шинэчлүүлж, техникийн бүрэн магадлалыг нь хийж, улсын бүртгэлд бүртгэн, ашиглалтад авсан. Хуучин лифтийг шинэчилж баталгаажуулснаар иргэдийн аюулгүй зорчих нөхцөл сайжирчээ. Энэ талаар МХЕГ-ын барилгын техник, өргөх механизмын хяналтын улсын ахлах байцаагч Н.Буйдан “Өнөөдрийн байдлаар нийтийн зориулалттай орон сууцны барилгад 25-40 жил  болсон, аюулгүй ашиглалтыг хангахгүй, шинэчлэх шаардлагатай болсон 131 лифт ашиглагдаж байна. Хэзээ ч осол гаргаж болзошгүй байдалтай байгаа гэсэн үг шүү дээ. Манай байгууллагын зүгээс холбогдох төрийн төв байгууллагад энэ тухай албан ёсоор мэдээлсэн байгаа” гэлээ.
